Are PopUps Really Serving You?

Let's imagine that you have decided to learn more about something so you do a search online. You then choose one of many results that Google provides and click on it. Then, when the internet page finishes loading, big surprise! Instead of viewing the page that is designed to have the content you need, you are forced to cope with a pop up. This pop up banner is an advertisement and no matter how many times you try and shut it down, it won't close-unless you type in your e-mail address. Eventually you just shut down your browser entirely because you get so agitated. The web page manager has won!

There is a good rationale that a lot of people detest pop ups. They're aggravating. They intrude on the net use. If they play sound they could get you in trouble with your employer (or anybody else in the room). They promise ridiculous things. If you would like to close them you often have to give up your personal information. Some even put malware and cookies within your computer systems. There aren't very many people who actually like coming across pop-ups and yet most IMers continue to use them. How come?

The depressing truth is that IMers keep using pop up banner ads because they actually work. They get the interest of the person. They help marketers create e-mail marketing prospect lists. It's been proven again and again that pop up ads get more opt ins than a typical opt in box put into the sidebar or even into the body of a website. Sometimes even direct sales take place as a consequence of them. Unfortunately, these stupid web pests actually get the job done and, until another person thinks of something better, most IMers are going to keep using them.

Of course, that doesn't means that most Online marketers should continue to use them. What is the benefit of an e-mail address that's only received through duress? Most of the time that person will elect to opt out of your list once they get their first e-mail. How great can your traffic seriously be if most of your visitors click out because they are offended by the pop up? Of course you intend to generate profits but really--is this the only strategy to do it? There needs to be a better option for someone who aspires to make and build an e-mail list to help them sell things.

The truth is just this: if you have a good product, you aren't going to need a pop up if you can present that product well. Concentrate first on setting up a quality product so that you won't have to rely on an annoying pop up to get the job done for you. Compose the sales and splash pages in a persuasive tone. Make your subject material and copy so effective that it is able to grab your reader's attention so hard that it never has to let go. The basic truth is that Online marketers only find success and online earnings when they make products that others are going to find valuable. No pop-up ad can ever replace the actual benefit of your product.
